Romain Hendrickx was appointed Chief Risk and Compliance Officer of Athora Life Re in December 2025, alongside his role as Group Head of Capital, Liquidity and ALM at Athora.

He joined Athora in March 2019 and has held several senior roles within Group Risk, with responsibility for capital adequacy, liquidity risk and asset-liability management across the Group. Romain has played a key role in the ongoing development of Athora’s risk framework, including leading the Group Economic Capital project, enhancing risk policies and governance, and improving internal and external risk reporting.

Before joining Athora, Romain held senior risk roles at Allianz Trade (formerly Euler Hermes), including Head of Risk Modelling, where he led internal model development and calibration. His earlier experience spans risk oversight, model development and quantitative risk analytics.

Romain holds a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Namur, Belgium.
